During the academic year 2006-2007, the IND will host two research series highlighting Huntington's disease and Parkinson's disease. Each series will consist of 4-6 seminars and will feature the top scientists in each field. Topics will range from the latest advances in basic research to the most highly developed therapies currently available.
The deadline for applications for the second annual award of the Taube Foundation Huntington's Disease Research Award will be announced in the fall of 2006. This $10,000 award will be presented to the scientist demonstrating excellence in the area of Huntington's disease research.
The Third Annual Synthetic Prion meeting will be held on the San Francisco campus in the spring of 2007.
The IND will host its first protein folding symposium in the fall of 2007. Jonathan Weissman of UCSF will provide the scientific direction for this event.
